Kristin S. Held, M.D. at Eye Surgeon Direct believes the patient-physician relationship is central to best medical care. Since 2015, she has been completely third-party-free, engaging in no agreements with insurance corporations or Medicare. Her agreements are directly with her patients for her patients. She private contracts directly with you, the patient, and no one else. Medical pricing is fair and transparent. There is no surprise billing from our end. We are focused on you. We will help you maximally utilize any outside agreements or benefits you may have if you so desire.

Prices may vary slightly. Additional procedures and fees are available upon request. We are happy to discuss this directly with you and help you utilize any resources you may have, such as out-of-network benefits, TRICARE, Health Savings Accounts, Health Sharing Ministries, or other direct pay arrangements.

Best of all, we know you and love caring for you directly with no third-party interference, restrictions, delays, or denials. We can see you the day you call us should an urgent condition arise. You have easy access and flexibility that suits your schedule.

We also strive to prescribe the best medications at the best cost and will help you navigate the convoluted system when it comes to actually getting your needed medications in hand without costing you an arm and a leg.

Eye Exams

Exams include all testing as well as a refraction and prescription for glasses if needed.

Part of comprehensive eye care involves in-depth evaluation of the retina, macula, and optic nerves. OCT- Ocular Coherence Tomography- is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-sectional pictures of your retina to best map, measure, and treat glaucoma and retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, macular edema, epiretinal membrane, retinal vascular diseases such as retinal vein occlusion, central serous choroidopathy, and others. This testing is included as part of your comprehensive evaluation and care. There is no additional fee.

There is no additional charge for refraction, corneal topography, Schirmers tear testing, or other testing considered “non-covered services” by commercial insurers or Medicare. We consider these essential components of the highest quality comprehensive eye care, not “extras.”
